This Rivvy 38 is an ideal family weekender/overnighter with gobs of accommodation space and unbelievable storage space, every where. A huge saloon (6’6” of headroom and despite the fact that I weigh around 120Kilos I felt as if there was amazing space around me), an equally roomy and accommodating flybridge and six decent sized bunks, in two cabins, (with plenty of space for a few camper beds here and there should the occasion warrant it). Power is supplied via twin fresh water cooled, Cummins 6BTA 250 HP diesel motors, which will go flat out at over 20 knots and will use 38 litres of fuel at cruise (around 16 knots) The Cummins are yet to clock up 1100 hours (although they have just been given their 1100 hour service) The Onan 5.5 KVA genset has run up 668 hours and I took the time to listen to both the engines and the genset running, whilst I was inspecting this vessel, and they were all very “sweet” indeed, and relatively quiet. Two switch panels provide excellent control over all electronics, and the four batteries, are big heavy duty 900 amp “kickers” which are new. Also relatively new, is the Muir anchor winch, and when the hull was last out of the water at xmas 2005, not only was the bottom gurneyed and re anti fouled, but the anodes were replaced too. This vessel sports a GPS/plotter, two sounders, 2 x 27 meg radios, a VHF radio, 2 x stereo systems, a flat screen TV, internal; and external window treatments on all windows, a flybridge hardtop with front, side and rear clear curtains, two hot showers, 2 fridges, a 10 man life raft, shore power, battery charger, rod holders, rod racks and carpets everywhere. The Riviera is a very nice 1987, 38 footer, in excellent condition for it’s age. It might be put to a variety of uses, but is particularly suited to family weekend and overnight use. The vessel’s pen is also available but is to be negotiated for lease separately to the Riviera’s pricing.
