This is the 12th in a line of yachts the owner has called his own. A serious sailor, he has written articles on blue water sailing, and to be frank.......knows his stuff! Potential buyers can assume as a result, that this vessel was well chosen in the first instance, is well sorted for sailing the "seven seas", is well maintained and in excellent order. The John Raux designed 48 centre cockpit is ferro which has been epoxy sealed inside and out and the hull material will have only just reached the age where it achieves it's maximum strength. In fact the owner still has the original surveys on the framework and plastering for potential buyers to scrutinise. At 14.8 metres in length and with a beam of 5.7 metres "Absconder" makes a fair impression on the water. Auxillary power is provided by a Cummins 6BT 120HP unit which was new in 2003. The motor is fed by twin 650 litre tanks, so at 7 knots cruise and 4.5 litres per hour, she has an excellent range on motor alone. When the wind is blowing, aluminium masts, oversize rigging, Barient and Arco winches and an excellent wardrobe of sails provide sailing for all conditions. Passengers will find the interior is all beautiful New Guinea Kaurri, accomodation for 6 PLUS, 6'4" of hearoom throughout, hot shower, 4 burner stove with grill and oven, microwave, a fridge freezer and a 12v/240v fridge and TV/video/DVD player with a digital receiver. Complete electronics greet the skipper, Furuno GPS, Coursemaster Autopilot (the hydraulic ram can be used for emergency steering), Interphase sounder (scan ahead) and Yoeman portable plotter. Obviously the yachts inventory includes a full compliment of safety gear including  an EPIRB. Absolutely nothing for the potential adventurer to do here, just raise a couple of sails, slide out of port with a glass of cab sav in your hand and a smile on the dial and next stop..........Fuji.
