Wellcraft are a very recognizable and reputable builder of versatile and enduring boats. The company commenced operations in 1955 and has survived when others have disappeared into history, through innovation and their policy to only construct quality vessels. There are very few 238 Coastals in Australia, so this boat is a little unusal. Featuring the walkaround cabin style and self draining decks essential to serious bluewater fishermen, this 1996 model is in excellent nic and will not disappoint discerning buyers. At a full 25 feet long and with a huge 2.6 metre beam (can be trailed with a free permit in most states) she makes a large hole in the water and despite the big vee (for a boat this size) is vey stable at rest. The bimini and front and side clears give the skipper full standing room at the helm, and there is a rear curtain enclosing that entire area, for days when the weather is a little less than pleasant. All the usual Wellcraft features, such as 34 litre fresh water tank, deck shower and pressurized wash down, bait prep area, under floor kill tank with pump out, boarding ladder and stern entry door, under gunwhale rod racks, porta potti, locking cabin and padded gunwhales are present here. The Coastal is propelled by twin 135HP Mercurys (completely rebuilt and just 8 hours since completion) with S/S props and hydraulic steering. The morse controls and the faria guages are brand new. The engines are fed by a 500 litre tank, and sparked up by twin batteries with an isolator switch. This setup ensures cruising speeds in excess of 25 knots, a top speed of approx 35 knots (subject to conditions) and a range of over 500 kilometers (at cruise)......er that should get most of you there and back, and reasonably economically. The owner imported this vessel for himself and he has carried out the motor rebuilds and outlayed more cash on the new control unit and guages etc. However he has been shifted interstate, not likely to return for some time to come. So his plans for new electronics have not been started and the boat will require a sounder, GPS radios etc. He does not wish to have the boat sit for a long period unused, and his instructions to me are "don't muck around, sell her" So, a fabulous opportunity for someone to own a true blue water "battle wagon" at a bargain price.
