Twin 175 Suzuki Four Strokes and in 2C Survey
The original, the Bruce Harris story is well known. In 1972 he began producing a range of cats , which were smooth riding and able to cross bars and entrances like nothing else available at the time. Rescue and other commercial operations jumped on the bandwagon as the reputation of these vessels grew. This 1981 Sharkie had an engine refit in 2005 and was repowered with twin Suzuki 175 HP four strokes which have also built themselves a large following in a very short time. These "Suzis" have 460 litres of fuel at their demand and are sparked up by twin batteries with isolator switching. The vessel has two GPS units a Furuno GE 400 and a Navman 5505 with a plotter, a Raymarine DS 600 colour sounder and VHF radio. The "Sharkie" has a rocket launcher, extensive seating, rod holders, all the safety gear including a 406 EPIRB and the usual acres of usable cockpit deck space. The rig rides on a registered (July 2009) triaxle drive on, drive off, King trailer with electric over hydraulic brakes. This vessel would suit a multitude of uses, namely as a workboat, or a charter vessel (dolphin watching whale watching or perhaps even fishing) or as a private fisho. The fact that this cat is in 2C for 7+1 opens up all sorts of possibilities.
