Deck Cargo 5 tonne...Excellent Hydraulics...Super Worker
DeHavilland constructed light amphibious resupply craft. Except that this vessel was not set up for the amphibious work and thus the absence of wheels. The vessel was repowered in 2004 with a 60 KW Ford diesel with 160 litres of fuel at it's disposal. This enables the craft to cruise at 9 knots. Capable of carying 5 tonne on deck the LARC was originally set up with a Hiab crane, however that unit has gone to heaven and was replaced with a 20,000 LB hydraulic deck winch. In addition there is a seperate set of hydraulic outlets for further lifting/pulling gear if the ultimate purpose presents a need for such equipment. The current owner has also set up a door/ramp on the stern which is currently lowered with the winch but could be set up with hydraulic rams. The hydraulics on this vessel assist the steering, drive the deck wash and power up the huge capstan on the starboard side. At 10.56 metres in length , with a 2.95 metre beam (infinitely transportable or even towable) and a very shallow .5 metre draft the LARC could be put to a multitude of applications. This is further enhanced with the tunnelled and protected propellor and the safely ppositioned rudder. The hull and plating (see a couple of my interior photos) is in excellent nic, though the wheelhouse could probably do with some new timber panelling. The flat (punt style)bottom on this workboat, makes it extemely stable and as I have stated already in this text the options this vessel will aloow the new owner are numerous. The owner is in the process of putting the vessel back into survey through Marine Safety Victoria and the boat will be in 2D when handed over to the new owner. The LARC 5 represents a wonderful opportunity to any number of commercial operators, working harbours assisting larger vessels and so on. Like to go see, get larger pics or further information?
