High Performance 50 ft. AIRCat
Ideal craft for fast Crew Transfer / Charter / Island Supply / Emergency Response / Harbor Master / Port Security / Fast Ferry
A 2007 AIRCat of unique design, this cat is a planing catamaran with integral watertight cavities in the hull bottoms that are kept filled with pressurized air by fans. Frictional resistance under the air cushions is substantially less than for traditional hull materials, and wetted side hull surface is reduced by the lifting effect of the cushions. These effects combine to initiate planning at lower speed and power. Reduced hull resistance and superior planning deliver enhanced fuel economy, range and speed. Craft has been operated for only 30 hours on trials.
