Hi! My name is 'Rose-A-Lee' and I'm looking for some new people to love and care for me. My current owners have had me for over 4 years and lived on board for about 2 1/2 of them, but now their circumstances have changed and it was with reluctance that they told me I'd have to find new people.
I'm an 11.8m sailing catamaran (so you won't have to worry about any of those nasty new laws that relate to boats over 12m), and I have two lovely new 10hp Buhk saildrive motors. The motors can push me along at about 6 knots when there is no wind and between then both motors use less that 1.5 litres per hour. Can you believe it? Each motor only uses about 0.75 litres per hour.
My owners have just repainted the deck and are now in the process of painting the interior. We are currently waiting for a slipway appointment so I can be anti-fouled.
I have queen and double size cabins up forward and 2 single berths in the stern. In my starboard hull I have a large galley with a 4 burner stove with grill and oven, as well as an Engel fridge/freezer and n Evacool fridge/freezer unit. I've also got pressurised fresh and sea water to the sink (no foot pumps for me).
My saloon is very spacious with comfortable seating, plenty of cupboard space and a small writing desk. There's an electric toilet with holding tank and a neat shower area in my port hull, and every hatch, window and door is flyscreened.
I have a great cockpit area which has clears and storms covers that can fully enclose the cockpit during inclement weather and even the covers have a fly screen. My owners bought me a nice new GPS plotter for Christmas and I have depth sounders in each hull. I've also got radar, Autohelm, wind instruments, V HF radio, radio/CD player, a TV and fans. How can all these things be powered I hear you ask? Well, that's easy because I have 8 solar panels, a wind generator and I receive charge from the motors when they are running.
My sails are in good order and the fully battened main has a beautiful boom cover for storage when not in use. There is a large genoa, spinnaker and a small storm sail so all sailing conditions are covered. And as for sailing, well that's when I come into my own. I'm easy to sail and reefing lines have been set up so I can be managed single-handed if necessary. Because I'm a catamaran with mini-keels I can sit on the beach and sneak into all those lovely little spots that those boats that lean over can never get to.
There's heaps more I could tell you, but you really need to come and have a look for yourself. The photographs will give you a good idea of what I'm like but there's nothing like seeing me in the flesh (or in my case wood with glass over), so to speak. I'm currently lying in Bundaberg.
