(remember to include the stock number) View Listing > Seeker Reef Raider 6mtr This vessel is owned by a well known West Australian Boating identity and I can assure you, it is in a very seaworthy condition.These are his words: The Seeker Reef Raider is a very strongly West Australian built craft 6 metres in length and designed for fishing and diving in tough conditions.  She is lightly battle scarred as one would expect from a well used fishing boat and that means that there is some line cuts on the gunwale and some minor cosmetic gelcoat chips but there are no problems with the hull. The Reef Raider is an older boat that has been fitted with a 2000 model 115 Johnson outboard that has done around 180 hours which is equal to about a year and a halfs work for a well used boat. Designed by J B Brook in NZ they are still a popular class racer with many clubs and associations actively supporting the marque. At 25' in length and with an 8'2" beam most were built with a retracting keel and low slung cabin lines in the style of a day racer. They were actually built to be trailerable and whilst "Tokay" does not have a trailer, she could be trailed if the new owner saw fit. However this vessel has a shoal draft keel, making her ideal for Gippsland Lakes, or MacQuarrie Lake and the rear section of the cabin is raised with a cockpit bimini and full camper covers making her suitable for weekending or extended cruising. The boat was built in the Samson yard in Rockingham in 1980 and is very fair with no rust or structural problems. The hull has been surveyed by a shipwright and has been found to have been built exactly as per plan and the steel armature and cement are in excellent condition. The boat was successfully racing until 7 years ago at which time it was brought ashore at Maylands boatyard where it is today. It is in a very pleasant position right on the river. The 6 berth interior is fairly basic but usable and comfortable either as a live aboard or as a long distance cruiser. There is a new stainless 2 hob gas stove, an excellent anchor winch and 2 Maxwell 24 sheet winches. There is an electrical panel but most of the wiring could do with being re-done. There is a toilet. The reconditioned engine is a big slow revving Chinese 290C 20HP, producing a lot of torque with the shaft turning a 3 blade prop at just 700rpm. The engine starts perfectly and runs smoothly. It can run on vegetable oil if you wish. The rig is designed as a modern high aspect gaff - mast, gaff and boom are ready to go. Most of the rigging and mast fittings are supplied. There are sails with the boat but I would advise new sails which I have priced at about $4,000 from Lee Sails in Hong Kong. The hull is marine ply with epoxy dynel sheathing, the cabin is laminated Oregon, with epoxy dynel sheathing. Owner has just spent 2 months repainting the entire boat and re-epoxing the decks and general restoration. There is no rot. Mast, boom, gaff and bowsprit are Oregon, oiled and in top condition. There are 4 berths in the cabin with sitting headroom and it's also possible to sleep in the huge cockpit. The inboard is a Bukh DV 8HP diesel with 3 blade prop, it starts first time and runs sweetly and very reliably - 20 litre fuel capacity. The mainsail with 2 reefs and 2 jibs are all in good condition and drive the boat very well. New 2 burner meth stove, 27 meg radio, compass, solar panel and regulator, 2 new batteries. New interior cushions and cockpit cushions, anchor and chain, navigation lights. Full navy blue boat cover and boom cover. A perfect Rottnest boat with a draft of less that 0.5m with the centerboard up. Owner recently had a 5 day sail around Rottnest, anchoring close in out of the swell. The boat sails very safely in 30 knot winds (hitting 7 knots on the GPS) with 2 reefs and ghosts along very well in light winds with all sail up.
